MikuAI is a Llama-3 based chatbot that I trained on tens of thousands of messages sent between me and my friends over the years, among other things. She bears little resemblance to the real Hatsune Miku, but has the ability to speak in her voice using an RVC model. I've been working on Miku since mid-2024, and in the near future I plan to give her multimodal capabilities so she can see images. AI chatbots generally struggle with comedy and hallucinations, but I want to experiment with techniques like checkpoint merging and reinforcement learning with human feedback to optimize her funniness and responsiveness. I want Miku to be able to naturally chime in and join the conversation as if she were any one of the humans in the friend group. As far as I know, no other AI chatbot that exists today is designed this way.

MikuAI is open source software, and the backend code that hosts the model can be found here. This repo also includes the notebook used in the fine-tuning process. The Discord bot's code can be found here. The hardware requirements are fairly low; I've been using an extra PC with a single NVIDIA RTX 3070.

Miku has a penchant for dark humor, being based on an uncensored version of Llama-3 and prompt-engineered accordingly. But when she's not edgy, she loves being silly, maybe a little clueless. She might be smarter than she's letting on; I'll let you decide for yourself.
